NZ Nomination for International Award
A new independently produced wine guide has been nominated for the 2003 Jacob's Creek World Food Media Awards in the Best Food and/or Drink CD-Rom or Website category.
"The Grape Taste Of New Zealand - The Guide to New Zealand Vineyards, Wines and Winemakers" is an independently created and published CD-Rom by Christchurch based husband and wife team Nigel and Marie Hanson. The guide is the only New Zealand publication focused soley on wine to be nominated for the bi-annual awards.
The World Food Media Awards are the equivalent of the film industry's Oscars. The competition recognises excellence across the broad spectrum of food and drink media including books, guides, newspapers, magazines, photography, CD-Roms and Websites. Past winners include Rick Stein, Donna Hay, Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson.
A record number of more than 1,000 entrants in this years Food and Drink Media awards were judged by an international jury of 49 eminent industry professionals to find the final nominees.
"It is a fantastic honour to be recognised as amongst the worlds best" say the Hansons. "This is only our first production of the guide and we are delighted that it has been so well received. We feel we have brought a refreshingly new perspective to the traditional form of wine guide by creating it in CD-Rom format, enabling so many unique and exciting features to be added. We are also extremely thankful to the many individual New Zealand vineyards and winemakers who went out of their way to contribute to the finished product."
All nominees will be acknowledged as the highest achievers in their fields at the Awards Presentation on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at the Adelaide Festival Centre where, from the list of nominees, Gold, Silver and Bronze Ladles will be presented in each category.
