Bats Artists Selling Out
Three shows by companies that have produced work at BATS Theatre within the last two years are selling out across the
road at Downstage Theatre.
Raewyn Hill¹s dance work ŒWhite¹ premiered at BATS Theatre in July 2002 to rave reviews and full houses. Now direct from
a sell-out season at the 2003 Christchurch Festival, Downstage & Soapbox Productions present the return Wellington season opening on Tuesday 9th September.
The Naked Samoans and Flight of the Conchords, which both enjoyed summer sell out seasons at BATS, are also set to play
across the road at Downstage Theatre.

BATS Theatre was established in 1989 to provide a venue and a training ground for people struggling to forge careers in
the difficult world of professional theatre. Fifteen years later we are proud to continue to offer a professional
theatre experience in a supportive and risk friendly environment.
³It¹s an important part of the BATS kaupapa that artists move on to stage work in bigger venues, where they can make
more money, and go on tour,² says Miss van Beek, ³as well as returning to BATS to experiment with fresh ideas or new
techniques.²
