Designer Profile: Jason Barrrow
With a firmly established background in the street/surfwear industry throughout the nineties, Jason launched his Catch
clothing brand in early 2001. Art, music and popular culture are the key creative motivations for Jason, a graduate of
the Wellington school of Fashion Design. Jason views fashion as a platform in which he can combine these elements,
providing wearable yet highly individual clothing for his market.
Regular overseas expeditions and local sales trips around New Zealand provide Jason with inspiration for his designs. He
also works closely with other local artists to broaden his creative horizon.
Label Information - Catch
Best described as Casual Couture, Catch is a fashion forward label for uniquely stylish men and women. New Zealand
designed and constructed, Catch is stocked in stores around the country including Paris Texas, Street and Texas Radio.
Catch is ultimately an accessible range for the 18 - 30 market, linking elements of denim casual to high street fashion.
In a constantly changing market, where casual is more fashionable, consumers are mixing high-end garments with basics at
the other end of the cost scale. Catch is the local label sitting alongside expensive imported brands, with strong
direction and favourable pricing.
The current Winter 2003 range draws on a Butchers theme; blood red floral and paisley prints, knives and lace are teamed
with dark and striped denims. The cut is tailored, tighter fitting and sexy.
Summer 03-04 leans towards the Orient. A recent visit to Japan inspired an East meets West range. A combination of lush
satins, light cotton drills and exotic Japanese florals are offset with denim and linens. Cheeky 80's styling married
with sexy audacious cuts results in a collection of innovative and distinctive pieces that are versatile and inherently
wearable.
