LEGO Coach of the Year honours New Zealand’s unsung heroes.
LEGO and New Zealand Soccer’s Small Whites have joined forces to celebrate some of New Zealand’s unsung soccer heroes.
The thousands of men and women who spend countless voluntary hours running up and down the sidelines of the country’s
soccer fields, will now be honoured as the search begins for the LEGO Coach of the Year.
With over 60,000 children (aged 5-12 years) playing Small Whites soccer, New Zealand Soccer estimate that there are
around 6,000 coaches who work tirelessly to promote excellence and achievement in their respective clubs.
The LEGO Coach of the Year competition will invite nominations from children up and down the country. Children are asked
to give reasons why their coach should win the coveted title and what makes them special in their eyes.
Soccer is undoubtedly the fastest growing sport in New Zealand and the Small Whites is arguably one of the biggest and
best grass roots initiatives of any sport around the country.
As a key sponsor of the Small Whites, LEGO™ are keen to see their commitment to sports product, through their LEGO
Sports range, grow to encompass and foster greater links with sporting associations such as New Zealand Soccer.

The search for the LEGO Coach of the Year begins in earnest this week with the launch of the promotion on the New
Zealand Soccer website, www.nzsoccer.com
The LEGO Coach of the Year winner will receive a LEGO Trophy as well as the prestigious title of 2003 LEGO Coach of the
Year.
Their Small Whites nominator will win a fantastic selection of LEGO product to the value of $500.00.
The winning coach will be announced at the New Zealand Soccer Awards gala dinner on November 7th. Nominations close for
LEGO Coach of the Year on October 10th.
