National photographic competition focuses on lifelong learning
‘Lifelong learning – of COURSE you can do it!’ is the theme of the International Adult Learners’ Week He Tangata
Mätauranga national photographic competition launched today. The top three photographs will be awarded at the
International Adult Learners’ Week launch in the Grand Hall, Parliament Buildings 8 September 2003.
Judges will be looking for photos with a ‘message’ on the week’s theme rather than technical excellence in photography.
“The competition is open to anyone involved in Adult and Community Education and will provide us with a valuable
resource – a literal snapshot of how adult New Zealanders participate in lifelong learning” said Judi Altinkaya, Chief
Advisor, Adult and Community Education.
“The idea of holding a photography competition in conjunction with International Adult Learners’ Week is to promote the
idea that we can, as adults, learn a variety of new skills - including photography, at any age or stage of our lives.”
Entries should be submitted to one of the 25 International Adult Learners’ Week organisers around the country by Friday
8 August 2003. A list of organisers is available on www.adultlearnersweek.org.nz or from local community education
organisations.
