Celebrities Hit The Slopes For Hyundai Celebrity Snow Day
New Zealand celebrities tested their talents on the slopes of Coronet Peak yesterday, at the Hyundai Celebrity Snow Day,
part of the Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival.
Rebecca Hobbs, Tony Veitch, Jayne Kiely, Bernice Mene, Dion Nash, Kelly Swanson-Roe and Mark Ferguson were some of the
famous faces who attempted to show off their winter sports skills at the "Hyundai Celebrity Ski and Snowboard Race".
Some demonstrated confidence on the slopes while others battled their way through the course using whatever tactics
necessary to make it to the finish line.
Actor Rebecca Hobbs outshone the group demonstrating her superior skills to win 'best skier' for the second year
running.
Olympic golden girl Barbara Kendall, representing HANZ in the race, swapped her wind surfer for a snowboard, in a bid to
make her mark on the slopes.
"We're thrilled that Barbara is here to represent us at this event, she is such a talented and successful sportswoman,"
said HANZ general manager Philip Eustace.
"She also has a great sense of humour which is mandatory for this type of event!"
Other awards were made for 'best crash', going to Chris Powley of Auckland, 'best skier for his second day ever' to
Lotto presenter Doug Kamo and 'best novice snowboarder' to Doug's fellow Lotto presenter Imogen Ovens.
Eustace says the company was keen to sponsor the Celebrity Ski and Snowboard Race as it has always been a festival
highlight attracting high levels of participation from both celebrities and the general public.
The Lindauer Queenstown Winter Festival commenced on Friday 27 June and runs until Sunday 6 July.
