We are back, it must be Friday...Thank goodness! So what do you reckon...Hurricanes or Crusaders tonight? Tomorrow is easy, even for a Canterbury supporter, "go the mighty Blues".
1. Weather Situation 2. Regional Report 3. Surf Pad of the Week
Weather Situation
We have a big high sitting right on top of us. There is a small low to the northwest and another to the northeast. A small low is just heading into the mid Tasman Sea from the East Coast of Australia. We have a complex group of two lows and fronts to the southeast that is heading slowly to the east.
Regional Report
North Island
Northland; Auckland; Coromandel; Waikato; B.O.P:
West Coast: This is where we will be surfing this weekend with an easing southwest swell and northeast offshores tomorrow and Sunday. We have 3-4 feet and it will be smaller tomorrow. Now we are expecting a rekick next week....HT 1100.
East Coast: Not a lot happening here this weekend with slowly rising swell from the northeast. It's dam near flat this morning but we are expecting a swell to develop but we probably won't see the brunt of it until Monday. Onshore southeast this arvo going northeast for the weekend. HT 0745.
Gisborne; Wairarapa:
Southwest swell slowly easing and the rebooting on Monday. We have 3-4 feet this arvo with a light southeasterly wind that is forecast to be northeast over the weekend. Similar for the Wairarapa with an easing swell rebooting on Sunday or Monday. Northwest going southerly by Sunday and then back to northerly. HT 0625.
Taranaki:
A good place to be this weekend with southeast offshores tending northeast. We have an easing west to southwest swell with a clean 2-3 feet this arvo and we can expect the same tomorrow down the coast. Offshores all weekend. HT 1025.
Wellington:
West Coast; Not a lot happening here this weekend with northerlies going southwest and the northeast by Sunday, No swell action. HT 1005.
South Coast; The south swell we have had for the last couple of days will ease today and tomorrow and with any luck should reboot Sunday or Monday. Northwest today going westerly then southwest tomorrow and it's back to northerlies on Sunday. HT 1730.
South Island
West Coast:
Southwest swell easing with 2-4 feet this arvo. Southwest winds easing and becoming variable. A good place to be for the weekend. HT 1120.
Kaikoura; Canterbury:
South swell this weekend but it is struggling to get onto the Christchurch beaches. Plenty of swell on the otherside though with a good 2-3 feet. Its northeast this arvo but we are expecting west to southwest winds over the weekend with back to a northerly on Sunday. The south swell should start to rekick late Sunday. Kaikoura is pumping again today as the south swell pours in. It's 2-3 feet this arvo with the odd 4 footer. With west to southwest winds tomorrow you should be able to find something to play with. HT 0545.
Dunedin; Southland:
South swell of 2-3 feet this arvo and not a lot of wind. It is semi clean. Now we are expecting more swell on Sunday. Northerlies going northwesterly. It is looking like a northeast wind developing on Sunday. HT 1325.
