Not Bad Surf eh?
Hi
Yes it has been a month since we last communicated. What a month! If you haven't been surfing heaps, there is something wrong with your life. Well you know what I mean. There has been waves all over the place. If you have been visiting Surfco, this is old news to you. The best day though was Sunday the 16th when we had swell on both coasts with anything from 2-4 feet through to 8-10 feet, just depending on where you were at the time. The northeastern coast from East Cape north didn't have a totally flat day all month. Not bad eh?
Almost forgot about Erica the fizzer. She showed so much promise and delivered bugger all. It was the tastiest looking sub tropical and we thought - look out we are in for it! But no, we had 5 foot at the most. Still, can't complain, we have had a great summer.

Martinez Dominates Saloman Masters
Great 4-6 ft (2m) waves were on offer at Margaret River, with offshore winds and a sunny sky adding to the picturesque lineup. Hollywood movie star Heath Ledger was even among the strong crowd on-site to watch the surfing action.
In the Salomon Masters, Bobby Martinez (USA) completely dominated his fifth round heat. The Californian opened with a great backhand barrel on a right-hander. His first forehand tube earned a 9.27, but only minutes later he paddled into another set wave and emerged from two epic tubes and laid down a carving cutback for the event's first perfect 10-point ride.

Kiwi Action in Aussie
Jay Quin at Billabong Pro-Teen Newcastle
Gisbornes Jay Quinn had victory stolen in the dying seconds of the Billabong Pro-Teen in Newcastle. Surfing with an air of determination and confidence throughout the four-day event, it seemed inevitable the young Quinn would make his second final of the series. However, letting his guard down he allowed Queensland surfer Clint Kimmins unchallenged into the last wave of the final. The Australian scoring a 9.5 enough to eclipse Quinn and take the trophy and $2800 first prize.
