Auckland Stars Prepare To Shine!!!
Auckland personalities are counting down the days and squeezing in the all-important rehearsal sessions for the upcoming
“a Night with the STARS”. This glamorous charity dinner featuring the singing talents of some of Auckland’s musical (and
not so musical) celebrities will be held on Tuesday 29th April 2002 at the Sheraton Auckland Hotel and Towers at 7pm.
As Master of Ceremonies, Gary McCormick will welcome celebrities to the stage including: Paul Ego (from 91.8 More FM),
John and Elizabeth Walker, Hinewehi Mohi, Suzanne Paul and drag queen ‘Bumper’, Live This star Katrina Hobbs, John
Sumner of Spin Doctors, well known TV stars Katrina Devine and Blair Strang as well as Sophia Hawthorn.
And what numbers can we expect to hear on the night? Whispers indicate that Rebecca and Katrina Hobbs are gearing up for
a performance of the ‘Shoop Shoop’ song’, Suzanne Paul and ‘Bumper’ are practicing ‘All That Jazz’, Elizabeth and John
Walker are fine-tuning ‘Cruising’, Blair Strang will be center stage performing ‘Angels’, Katrina Devine singing
‘Superstar’ and John Sumner is working on ‘New York New York’ A host of famous faces will also be attending – to cheer
on and laugh along with their colleagues and friends. The celebrity support crew off-stage will include former All
Blacks Kees Meeuws and Waka Nathan, The Hon. Winston Peters, World Champion Windsurfer, Barbara Kendall,Sports Café’s
Eva Eugenieva, One News’ Tony Veitch. Triple Olympic Gold Medallist Ian Ferguson, Miss World New Zealand 2001, Amie
Hewitt and Miss World New Zealand 2002, Rachael Huljich.
The Prince’s Trust provides life skills and work experience programs to disadvantaged and unemployed youth. New
