New Zealand rowing trialists named
New Zealand Rowing today released their squad of national trialists to compete in the national trials at Lake Karapiro
on March 15-20.
The New Zealand squad to compete in the world championships in Milan in August will be named after the trials on March
20.
NZ Rowing's high performance manager Barrie Mabbott said Avon's Sam Earl withdrew from the trials because of a back
injury.
``Sam has been one of our strongest and best performed rowers in the last few years but has withdrawn from the 2003
squad. He will receive rehabilitation treatment over the winter with the view to returning next summer.''
Mabbott said Earl could return to the New Zealand four boat, which is seeking to compete at the Athens Olympics, if he
returns to top form next summer.
