A Vibrant Selection Of International Movie And Musical Treats
The New Zealand Film Festival Trust is pleased to announce the fifth annual World Cinema Showcase. Like a miniature version of the main event, the Showcase celebrates a marvelous diversity of distinctive and individual filmmaking that might never otherwise receive the attention it so richly deserves.
We are delighted to have been chosen as the venue for the New Zealand premiere screenings of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind - George Clooney's directorial debut - which opens the Showcase. Scripted by Charlie Kaufman and starring Sam Rockwell, Drew Barrymore and George Clooney.
Our selection encompasses timely New Zealand premieres of several major international festival hits - alongside welcome reprises of more unreleased gems from our own International Film Festivals. We've secured four very different Italian films from the organisers of Australia's Italian Film Festival. There are new prints of several Hollywood classics, and as you might expect, a line-up of engrossing feature-length documentaries.
Our 2003 lineup is outlined briefly on the following page.
