Opera At Oporua
On Sunday 9th March three of New Zealand's top opera singers will be performing in an outdoor luncheon at Oporua, one of the Wairarapa's most elegant old homesteads. The afternoon includes fine wine and lunch.
Woodville local Anna Leese, the 2002 Mobil Song Quest winner will stand alongside the well-established performers Jud Arthur and Helen Medlyn, both currently performing in the TOWER Autumn Season of Boris Godunov in Wellington.
"Opera at Opera" is one of this year's major fundraising events being organised by Friends of the Opera. The funds will go towards sponsoring visiting performers and assisting up-and-coming young New Zealand singers.
Tickets for Opera at Oporua are priced at $60 per head including lunch, wine and entertainment, and can be obtained by contacting Friends of Opera at The NBR New Zealand, Wellington on (04) 384 4434.
Guests are invited to bring their own picnic rugs, deck-chairs and outdoor seats. A marquee will be erected in the event that the weather turns.
