Astle slips further but still top NZ batsman
Nathan Astle has slipped further to 29th in the world one day international cricket ratings but is still the top ranked
New Zealand batsman.
Astle was set for a big score against the West Indies in the World Cup last night but was given out caught behind when
replays show he clearly did not touch the ball.
He entered the World Cup at 27 on the PricewaterhouseCoopers charts and has slipped to 29th. The next best rated Black
Caps batsman is Craig McMillan. West Indian star Brian Lara is back in the top ten of the PwC one-day ratings, thanks to
his century in the first match of the World Cup.
The other batsmen to have made a big impact in the ratings so far include Sanath Jayasuriya, who has reclaimed top place
from Matthew Hayden, and Ramnaresh Sarwan who is up eight places to 16th, his first appearance in the world top 20.
In the bowling, Merv Dillon has climbed to 15th, while Kiwi bowlers Andre Adams and Shane Bond have entered the top 30.
