Final Auditions For Coke Gig Southside
Final auditions for Manukau's annual hip hop music festival take place this Saturday (15/2) with competition heating up amongst South Auckland's top young musicians, singers and dancers.
A total of eight winners will join headline acts Katchafire, Nesian Mystik and Dawn Raid - featuring Deceptikonz and Il Semantics - on stage at Coke Gig Southside 2003 at the Manukau Sportsbowl on February 22.
The first round of auditions kicked off last Saturday (8/2) at Manukau Square with the second scheduled for this Saturday (15/2) from 10am to 2pm at the Otara Square Stage.
Event manager Thelo Meleisea says more than 30 groups entered the first round of auditions with twice as many expected to turn up to the Otara venue this Saturday.
To audition, people simply need to turn up this Saturday.
"For up-and-coming talent, performing alongside some of the country's best will provide a taste of what it's like to be a professional musician," Thelo says.
More than 8000 people are expected at the Manukau Sportsbowl for Coke Gig Southside on February 22.
Tickets for the concert can be swapped with a 600ml Coke label from either the Customer Service Centre at Westfield Manukau City or Sounds Music Manukau.
