This Friday 24th of January will see the debut CD of Tauranga singer/songwriter Martine "out there" in the shops. Inspired by both the Around Alone Yacht skippers, now arriving in Tauranga, and the America's Cup, her CD titled "Out There" captures the spirit of men and women out there on the ocean.
Music has been the focus for most of Martine's life. She has performed as the lead singer in several Bay of Plenty rock bands, performing locally and in the surrounding districts. She later moved onwards to more contemporary music performing as a member of a duo and more recently solo in restaurants across the Bay.
She is also presently one of the three singers in her group "Vamp".
After gaining experience as a solo artist, she ventured further afield to London which is where her songwriting career originated. Teaming up with a London recording studio she wrote and performed her first song "Life is a Game" which was later aired on a local Bay of Plenty radio station.
Having written quite a collection of material, Martine's music focuses on diversity, creating a personal atmosphere to each individual song. The single "Out there" is the first single of an album that will be released later this year.
Martine was born in Tauranga and although she has traveled extensively across the world, she will always regard New Zealand as home. Now she is looking to make her mark with her latest single "Out There" (arranged and produced at The Colour Field in Tauranga by Tim Julian). This single portrays the passion and affinity Martine has with the sea. Martine has been performing her song live at the Around Alone Village, as part of her performance with "Vamp".
Her somewhat ethereal vocals coupled with her very strong lyrical ability ensures this song will capture the heart, inspire and uplift, leaving a certain serenity which sets this song apart, and will go a long way towards making this singer/songwriter a household name.

Extra bonus: The actual lyrics:
Your life, is as free as the sea
Be what you want to be
Only you are the master of your course
Out there, you determine which way to go
You're in charge, don't you know
Your freedom is in your hands
Just like the open sea
Ever changing, but free as it can be
Nothing out there, but simplicity
Take my hand, come along with me
You'll discover out there its all the same
Doesn't matter that no-one knows your name
And the things you thought were in the game
Were just an illusion
You'll feel, a change within something grow
Something start to begin
And your heart will be filled to overflow
With a joy, a knowledge you can't explain
You'll be sailing out on the waves
By the stars, your path will be laid
Your courage, your will to reach the end, will drive you
And strength will be your friend
Just like the open sea
Ever changing, but free as it can be
Nothing out there, but simplicity
Take my hand, come along with me
You'll discover out there its all the same
Doesn't matter that no-one knows your name
And the things you thought were in the game
Were just an illusion
And finally when you are near
Through the dawn an oasis appears
You know you've released all your fears
And your life lays before you
Just like the open sea
Ever changing, but free as it can be
Nothing out there, but simplicity
Take my hand, come along with me
You'll discover out there its all the same
Doesn't matter that no-one knows your name
And the things you thought were in the game
Were just an illusion
