Fusa to Bring Hip Hop Fusion Sounds to Cathedral Square
Summertimes(tm) FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert in Cathedral Square, Friday 17th January, 12.15pm to 1.45pm.
Eight piece band FUSA will bring Hip Hop, R & B, and Jazz fusion sounds to Christchurch Cathedral Square this Friday 17th January from 12.15pm as part of the SummerTimes(tm) festival, produced by Christchurch City Council Leisure.
The brainchild of Shane Asi, the band have worked together for the last year, successfully competing in the Christchurch 2002 Battle of The Bands, winning locally, and gaining 4th place nationally.
Five MC's front the band; Shane and Lupe Asi, Ave Robertson, Solomon Smith, and Red Setu.
With an average age of 23, this young band has an international flavour, while retaining their pacific roots.
Keyboards, bass, live drums, and acoustic guitar make up the backing, and the band like to play with the rhythmical possibilities of rap.
FUSA have performed recently at the Life Festival, and Mana in the Park, as well as playing regularly at the Dux De Lux.
