Twin Towers Conquers NZ Box Office

New Zealander’s returned to cinemas yesterday in record numbers, to be amongst the first to see Peter Jackson’s, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS.
The central film in the trilogy, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS, has broken New Zealand’s opening day record with a staggering $757,887. This record was previously held by THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, which took $720,933 in its opening day!
Roadshow Film Distributors General Manager, Lisa Hubbard said, “This is an exceptional result for an outstanding film, and is a true testament to the unwavering support from the New Zealand public for THE LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy.”
Not only has the New Zealand public embraced and acknowledged this masterpiece, but so too have the Hollywood Foreign Press Association who today announced the 2003 Golden Globe nominations with THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS nominated for:
Best Motion Picture – Drama Best Director – Motion Picture
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE TWO TOWERS released throughout New Zealand yesterday in 70 cinema locations on 103 screens.
