LOOP SELECT 004
Compilation CD + Limited Edition Book
Just in time for Christmas, here's another simmering LOOP Select-ion to provide the soundtrack to your summer season.
Following up on our landmark LOOP Select 003 double disc set released mid-year (a great Chrissy gift for NZ music fans
here and abroad!), this time around we've returned to the familiar format of a single CD compilation and a companion
book of cutting edge visual content, all home grown right here in New Zealand.
On the LOOP Select 004 CD we've compiled another cross section of Aotearoa's recent audio output, sampling from some of
2002's hottest local albums (by Salmonella Dub, Dub Asylum and LOOP's own 50Hz), gathering a couple of underexposed
remixes (of tracks by Che Fu and Del Rey System) and exclusive new tracks by LOOP favourites Fat Freddy's Drop,
epsilon-blue and Ekto, and introducing another crop of fresh new faces with bright musical futures:
01. Kora - Barely Can See *
02. 50Hz - Seek Know More
03. Che Fu - Fade Away (Solephonic remix)
04. Lief - Dream Come Twice *
05. Ekto - Never Gonna Lose (That Feeling) *
06. Dub Asylum - What The Funk? (Paddy Free remix)
07. epsilon-blue - So Many Times *
08. Salmonella Dub - Wytaliba (Dreadzone remix)
09. Vol - Keep It Simple *
10. Del Rey System - U Say (Phully's seagulls mix)
11. Fat Freddy's Drop - Bluey *
12. Gasoline Cowboy - Sometimes You Shine *
* = previously unreleased
LOOP Select 004's musical selections reflect a year in which New Zealand music has well and truly taken off
internationally. Several of the featured acts have toured overseas in 2002 with Salmonella Dub, epsilon-blue and Fat
Freddy's Drop all having appeared at the sellout Return Of The Aotearoanz New Zealand music showcase held in London in
July. On LOOP Select 004 you'll hear from New Zealanders based all around the globe and collaborations between local and
overseas musicians.
