Cairnbrae Claims Gold in Australia
The Sydney International Wine Competition has proven to be golden for Cairnbrae’s 2001 Marlborough Pinot Noir, winning a ‘Blue Gold’ medal and placing it in the top 10% of wines entered.
This award is very exciting for the Sacred Hill winemaking and viticultural teams. Since the company’s acquisition of the Cairnbrae vineyards and brand back in 2001 a lot of hard work has gone into building the grape resource quality and fine tuning the approach to winemaking. This demonstrates that the viticultural and winemaking teams are firmly on a path to further success.
Sacred Hill has always indicated its intention to keep building the Cairnbrae brand into a competitive international Marlborough brand, based upon its existing success in the domestic market. Cairnbrae has already proven itself on the domestic show circuit, this latest result increasing its international exposure while underpinning its image as a quality brand.
The main objective of the competition is to offer consumers independent information to help in their choice of wines to enhance the pleasures of the daily dining experience. Wines awarded with Blue Gold medals are promoted through a series of wine tastings and banquet dinners as well as extensive promotion on the official competition web site. The official ceremonial announcement of the competition’s results will take place in early March 2003 in Sydney.
