Take a trip to New Zealand's unique and wild south with Triangle Television
Triangle Television is offering a rare glimpse into New Zealand's unique southern wilderness and the people who work and live there.
Southern Journeys is a six-part series by South Coast Productions based on several exceptional videos produced and filmed by southern men Dave Asher and Dave McCarlie. It is due to begin screening on Triangle on Friday, December 6 at 8.30pm
The pair have built on the overwhelming success of their first video, "The Venison Hunters" which followed the development of the venison industry in the South Island.
Using high-quality equipment, they have now produced a series of six videos which have been shown to fans of outdoor New Zealand in halls and cinemas throughout the South Island. There has also been significant interest from the United States.
Triangle Television is proud to screen this series. Each programme takes an in-depth look at the landscape and people that give the South Island its distinctive character.
The Last Great Adventure (Dec. 6) This is the story of the New Zealanders who perfected the capture of wild animals, particularly deer. It features the Kiwi ingenuity that developed helicopter capture systems and amazing flying sequences. You'll meet the men who looked for adventure - and found it.
The Venison Hunters (Dec. 13) Join Mike Bennett as he tells the story of the development of the South Island's venison industry. Meet the characters who recover deer from the mountains and see unique original film shot by the hunters themselves.

Catlins Country (Jan. 3) The Catlins, in New Zealand's south east, is often called the forgotten coast. Travel the spectacular coastline, meet the unique wildlife and see where moa were once hunted. From Nugget Point to the sea caverns of Cathedral Caves, the area has a diverse and historic past.
Saxtons Country (Jan. 10) Explore the wonders of southern Westland with legendary helicopter pilot Dave Saxton. A one-time Government deer culler, he's captured deer, chamois and thar and has mustered cattle in the South Island high country.
Full-length videos of the Southern Journey's series are available for purchase at Whitcoulls stores in Auckland and throughout New Zealand.
