SALON DI VIRTUOSI - 'FLIGHT': BRIDGET DOUGLAS (FLUTE) & CAROLYN MILLS (HARP) Friday 15 November, 6pm Artist teachers from the Victoria University School of Music and Principal players of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, Bridget Douglas and Carolyn Mills perform in the second Salon di Virtuosi concert for 2002. The programme ranges from classical to contemporary, with works by George Frederick Handel, Ned Rorem, Philippe Gaubert, Chou Wen-chung and Manuel de Falla. Complimentary refreshments served from 6pm. Concert starts at 6.30pm. Adults $15; Concession & Friends of City Gallery Wellington $12; Students with ID $6. Gerhard Richter Survey Until 1 December 2002 A survey of exemplary works by Gerhard Richter, one of the most internationally acclaimed German artists working today. An exhibition catalogue is available. An exhibition presented by the Institute of Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa), Germany, in co-operation with the Goethe-Institut Inter Nationes Wellington. John Parker*Ceramics Until 1 December 2002 John Parker*Ceramics surveys the 35 year career and current work of one of New Zealand's foremost ceramicists. Len Lye Presented by Telecom New Zealand Ltd Until 24 November 2002 Len Lye features 17 of the artist's ground-breaking short films, 21 photograms of friends and colleagues (including Le Corbusier and Georgia O'Keeffe) and six stunning kinetic sculptures. Len Lye is a joint exhibition between the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, supported by the Len Lye Foundation. Trace Murdoch*15XTABLES 8 Nov - 15 Dec 2002 Michael Hirschfeld Gallery Local furniture and building designer Trace Murdoch's solo exhibition includes 15 meranti ply tables in various sizes, colours and dimensions. Some are enclosed within two large wooden boxes that restrict access to several viewing slots, forcing viewers to see the tables through controlled vantage points or perspectives. 15XTABLES is supported by Creative New Zealand. The exhibition is presented within the 360 programme*a full perspective on Wellington Art*which is generously sponsored by Designworks.
