Fashion Finale For Ponsonby Fringe Festival
An invite-only showcase of the best in fashion, music, art and design caps off the Ponsonby Fringe Festival this Friday night (Nov 1).
Festival sponsors Mai FM 88.6, Giltrap Prestige and Ponsonby Road Promotions are hosting the finale function for the three-week event at the Giltrap Prestige Showrooms in Great North Road.
Headlining designers are Adrian Hailwood and Trelise Cooper with MCs Trent Helmbright, Veeshayne Armstrong and Ally Fox, DJs Damon and Mark Burgess, and entertainment by the Ponsonby Primary kapa haka group.
Staged on the fashion and restaurant strip of Auckland's Ponsonby Road, the festival events have been drawing capacity crowds and rave reviews.
Sponge Bar is the venue for the Roisin Dubh, State of Grace and Federation show on Tuesday night (Oct 29) with music by DJ Timmy Schumacher.
The Safari Lounge hosts AUT Design, Testudo, Moa, Catch Clothing and Ruby on Wednesday night (Oct 30) joined by DJs Manuel Bundy and MC Jaquie Brown.
On the exhibition scene, Mataora has dTail: Body Adornment by Ani O'Neill and Shige Yuki Kihara on Sunday night (Nov 3) while 'The Magazine and the Influence' curated by Penny Swan is on at the Giltrap Prestige Showrooms.
Other designers have included Mooks, Paul Frank, Mone11, Mossimo, Frost, Francesca, Marvel Menswear, La Cigale, Bella Franco, Kristen, Angelene Harrington, Sabine, Glory, Juli Hunter, Insidious Fix and Denciumcompri.
Mai Media Limited managing director Graham Pryor says the festival has given exposure to a wide range of Ponsonby businesses from boutiques, bars, cafes, art galleries, hair salons, designers, DJs, photographers and radio stations.
"Ponsonby is New Zealand's most diverse and ecletric retail and hospitality precinct," says Mr Pryor, who is also chairman of Ponsonby Road Promotions.
"We're proud to present an event that can stand alongside New Zealand Fashion Week and the Louis Vuitton Cup and adds a new dimension to the growing world interest in our country's unique style."
