Meridian Energy Fireworks Extravaganza to Light up the Sky
Tuesday 5th November, 9.30pm, New Brighton Pier and surrounding beach area.
Meridian Energy is again supporting the highly anticipated Guy Fawkes firework show produce by Christchurch City Council Leisure.
This year’s event is more than just a fireworks show. Once again, the firing of the display will be specially choreographed to music, broadcast live on 94.5 Lite FM and 1260AM. As well as this, the New Brighton Carnival returns to add colour and excitement for the period leading up to the show. Thrill rides and amusement games will be operating from 3.00pm until the start of the countdown to the show at 9.15pm. A variety of large amusement rides and children’s inflatables will be operating, as well as a number of bands in the Mall area from 6.00pm.
The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9.30pm. The show will feature a fantastic 12-15 minute sky based display from Firework Professionals, fired from the end of the New Brighton Pier.
Owing to the sky-based nature of the show the display will be clearly visible from areas such as Sumner, Redcliffs and Mt Pleasant, as well as north along the beach front up to North New Brighton.
Free Buses will be provided to and from New Brighton for Fireworks

Car parking will be available for a gold coin donation in the following areas:
- Rawhiti Domain - entrance off Keyes Road
- South ramp - Operation mobility card holders only
All proceeds from the parking will go to charities designated by the various Rotary Clubs.
