New Ford Focus to be driven by Simon Dallow
Ford’s fresh out of the blocks new Focus will be driven in the EnergyWise Rally 2002 by TV1 news presenter Simon Dallow. The Focus, which has been released to the media but doesn’t officially go on sale until the new year, is expected to provide a strong challenge to the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic in the class for small-medium cars from 1601-2500cc.
Dallow will drive the Focus for the first two days of the event – who will be behind the wheel for the second half of the rally has yet to be announced.
The Ford Focus is the world’s best selling car. Hugely popular in both Europe and the USA for its style, performance and driving qualities, it also has an enviable reputation for low fuel consumption. The EnergyWise Rally 2002 will be the perfect opportunity for the Focus and its rivals to demonstrate the remarkable fuel economy of today’s new cars.
Ford’s other entry is a Mondeo Zetec, driven by Ford Advanced Driving School instructor Mark Cooper, who will be out to demonstrate that a high level of driver skill has just as much relevance to saving fuel as it does to high-performance driving. The Mondeo will be competing against the just-released Toyota Camry and Mazda6 in the class for medium-large cars 1601-2500cc.
