Shar Handisides Plays Cathedral Square
FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert, Cathedral Square, Friday April 12, 12.15pm to 1.15pm.
Shar Handisides, self described ‘ girl with the guitar thing’ plays her brand of unpretentious, indie-rock in Cathedral Square this Friday lunchtime, as part of the FREE Friday Lunchtime Concert Series.
Shar specialises in uncluttered acoustic performances of the music of Joan Armatrading, David Bowie, Melissa Etheridge, Jewel and Marianne Faithful, and likes to play ‘a little bit of country – with guts’.
She has been performing since 1986, preferring an outdoor setting, as she feels it ‘keeps the performer in (her) sharp and practised’.
When she’s not performing, Shar teaches guitar and vocal performance, and studies music at Canterbury University.
She is currently recording a CD of 13 originals, and has appeared in regular performances at The Arts Centre, and Festival of Romance.
