AA joins EnergyWise Rally
The New Zealand Automobile Association will be part of next month’s Energywise Rally 2002, providing technical support and logistical assistance during the four day event.
The AA’s field staff will act as independent observers and assist with the recording of the fuel used at each fuel stop. Also, the AA’s rescue and recovery service will be on hand in the event that any of the event’s competitors are unlucky enough to suffer a mishap on the road.
“We want to support this event, highlighting as it does the continually improving fuel economy, environmental friendliness and safety of modern cars,” said Stella Stocks, the AA’s General Manager, Technical Services. “It will also place a focus on the driving techniques necessary to obtain the best fuel economy, a subject dear to the heart of our members.”
The event, sponsored by EECA (the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority), and with fuel supplied by Gull Petroleum, starts from Aotea Square, Auckland, on the morning of Monday 11 November. It finishes at the Big Boys Toys exhibition, Epsom Showgrounds, on Friday morning 15 November.
