THE LOUIS VUITTON CUP STARTS WITH MASCALZONE LATINO RACING VS ONE WORLD
Auckland, September 30th, 2002 ­ Louis Vuitton Cup officially strated today with the draw of Round Robin 1 & 2: the start for “TIM Mascalzone Latino ­ ITA 72” will be fired at 12.30. Helmsman Paolo Cian and the Italian team will be racing versus the american team of “One World” (James Spithill at the helm). On board with the helmsman from Naples the skipper Vincenzo Onorato in the poisiton of grinder, the tactician Flavio Favini and the navigator Silvio Arrivabene.
Weather forecast for tomorrow will see a southwesterly breeze between 10 and 15 knots: the race area will be located in the south of Hauraki Gulf: TIM Mascalzone Latino will gent into the start box from the port end (displaying a blue flag).
I’m very happy to be here in such an important event ­ said Paolo Cian at the press conference for the draw ­ this has been possible thanks to the efforts of our team in the past two years. I wish good luck and fun to all other teams taking part in the Louis Vuitton Cup”:
Paolo Scutellaro, team manager, added:”This is the first time we race with “One World” and it is much better to race immediately instead waiitng for another day”.
Mascalzone Latino and its team will race with the TIM colours, the only mobile telephone company entirely Italian and sole sponsor for this all-Italian challenge.
