Supergts To Join Tranzams At Boost Mobile V8 Supercar Meeting
New Zealand's fastest SuperGT cars will join their TranZam counterparts on the grid for two races at the big Boost Mobile V8 Supercar meeting at Pukekohe on November 9 and 10.
SuperGT is the class which pits exotic European sports cars against Australian and American muscle cars and hi-tech Japanese fast fours, sixes and rotaries.
A combined field of TranZams and SuperGT cars will contest two support races at the big Boost Mobile meeting, one on Saturday, the other on Sunday. Both will be televised.
Heading the SuperGT entry list are the fire-breathing turbocharged Porsches of 2001/2002 New Zealand SuperGT champion 'Racing' Ray Williams and Lighting Direct teammates Owen Evans and father and son Bill and Dean Fulford.
Adding to the SuperGT strength will be the ultra light, ultra powerful TVR Tuscan of Whangarei driver Carl Hansen, the late model Chevrolet Camaros of Derek Mitchell and John Rae, and the booming V10-engined Dodge Viper of Rotorua driver Phillip Mules.
There will also be intense interest in the performance of the new Nissan Skyline GTS of Aucklander Adrian de Croy, the new Nissan 300ZX of Wellingtonian David Glasson and the Subaru WRX Imprezas of Ross Rutherford, David Gunson and series newcomer Michael Crowley.
Providing competition are at least six TranZams. Expected to set the pace is Hamiltonian Mark Porter.
The TranZams and SuperGTs will join V8 Touring Cars, Porsches and Formula Fords on the support class bill at the big Boost Mobile V8 meeting.
