Personal Grievance lodged on behalf of tv reporter
The PSA has lodged with the Employment Relations Authority a personal grievance claim against Television New Zealand on
behalf of television reporter Kim Webby, PSA spokesperson Jo Quatermass said today.
“We are acting for PSA member Kim Webby following her dismissal by TVNZ in 2001 and are seeking damages for unjustified
dismissal. Kim was working on the current affairs programme ’60 Minutes’ which was dropped and replaced with ‘Sunday’.
Out of five staff working on ’60 Minutes’, four were assigned to ‘Sunday’. Kim, however, was advised her application was
unsuccessful as TVNZ said it wanted a new image for the ‘Sunday’ programme.”
Jo Quatermass said the PSA failed to understand how TVNZ could insist it wanted “new faces” on the ‘Sunday’ programme
and then instate four of the five ’60 Minutes’ staff on to the programme.
“Kim was the only one not to move to ‘Sunday’ and TVNZ has never indicated it found fault with her work.”
Jo Quatermass said TVNZ’s actions had had a severe impact on Kim Webby both emotionally and financially.
