May continues to host New Zealand Music Month and the celebrations extend with NZ Music Week - listen to your local
radio station to hear their involvement in Music Month.
Last week was a wonderful week of New Zealand music with three New Zealand singles in the Top 5, and a New Zealand
Number one with Goodshirt¹s new single Sophie.
With this the fist kiwi number 1 since Fur Patrol’s Lydia, Brendan Smyth from New Zealand On Air was quite frankly
chuffed, "It's so exciting to see NZ music represented like this in the charts - especially in Music Month and on the
eve of the Music Awards".
Nominated for a Silver Scroll last year, Sophie is Goodshirt¹s first number one, and by god if they didn¹t then take
home best new artist at the Tui¹s.
With the Tui¹s we saw the passing of week 2 of New Zealand Music Month. Che Fu took home loads of awards, and high
praise too for Ms Anika Moa and fellow Mainlanders Salmonella Dub.
With their award for international achievement firmly under their belt, Salmonella Dub play their next Music Month gig
in sunny Australia with gigs in Byron Bay, Brisbane and Sydney before heading back to Europe.
Speaking of the international, last week also saw the welcome return of Jon Toogood, doing press for Pacifier¹s first
New Zealand performance at Auckland¹s True Colours, this Queen¹s Birthday Weekend.
But New Zealand Music Month is not only for the grown up¹s, this week Steriogram continue their schools tour in and
around Nelson, and Tadpole play at High Schools around Auckland, with a tour of Wellington next week.
And finally the celebration is not just for the public applications close this week sees the first round of entries
