Naked Samoans Are Back

MEDIA RELEASE - TUESDAY 2 APRIL 2002
The Naked Samoans are back! Following sell-out seasons in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch Dave Fane, Oscar Kightley, Shimpal Lelisi, and Mario Gaoa, and their lesser-known but much better-looking mate, Robbie Magasiva (Stickmen, The Strip), return to Auckland with their epic show NAKED SAMOANS THE TRILOGY.
Combining brilliant physical humour with razor-sharp Polynesian satire, The Naked Samoans have a huge following throughout the country, and all of their shows over the last 5 years have sold out. The Trilogy is like Lord of the Rings, only taller, like Star Wars but with more fights, like Krishnan’s Dairy, but with Samoan customers. The Trilogy brings together all the best bits from their earlier shows, as well as outrageous new material.
The three previous sell-out shows – Naked Samoans Talk About Their Knives, Naked Samoans Go To Hollywood and Naked Samoans: Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go – are combined in a hilarious and frenetic, full-length, highly physical, K-Tel kamikaze comedy. Who can forget the Naked’s famous marae visit? Marvel at their contemporary dance routines, re-live the school-social romance of Sione and Vienna, and laugh and cry as Sione’s mum shows her love for her son with a variety of household appliances. Discover if Rakeesh, the Indian dairy-owner, ever has his bill paid by those thieving Samoans . . .
