Long time Matterhorn residents Mu and Vee whip up hip hop, funk, reggae, dub and a few oldies to thrill the ears. It's Friday, so forget about the rest and relax with the best.
Saturday 02/02/02 - Becks presents Recloose: joined this week by Clinton Smiley.
Join our internationally celebrated resident for a weekly mix-a-thon showcasing jazz, funk, dub, house, techno and more new genres than you can shake a tone arm at! Recloose is joined by local Matterhorn residents in an attempt to spread the knowledge and wealth of all involved. This shit is funky, so don't miss out. This is a FREE event.
Sunday 03 ­ The Matterhorn presents Gilles Peterson Worldwide
Gilles is the main man behind acid jazz label Talking loud, an in demand international DJ, who attends all the best festivals in the world as well as playing a weekly club night in London, and to top that all off, his Worldwide show plays weekly on BBC¹s Radio One and he records a special version for us. He has long been respected by hip hop and drum n bass artists, while the new breed of garage and house acts cite him as a major influence. Tune in to Gilles Peterson Worldwide 6-8pm on Radio Active 89FM presented by The Matterhorn.
Wednesday 6th Feb – Twinset
Three piece Twinset are back in session for another Wednesday of lounge and jazz masterpieces. You won't see a better looking jazz band in Wellington and naturally they fit right in down at The Matterhorn. Twinset play a swinging selection of jazz and lounge classics teamed with a fair swag of their original tunes. It's fresh and fruity!
