Waitangi Day
Wednesday 6th February 2002, 12-7pm
Deep bass grooves provided by the Black Seeds, Fat Freddys Drop, DJ Lemon and Sounds Almighty Aotearoa featuring Mighty Asterix. Radio Active 89FM provides the essential ingredients to best enjoy Waitangi Day... sun, views, trees and most significantly - the roots reggae sound! Coinciding with the commemoration of Bob Marley's birthday, bring friends and whanau to dance and smile with us for New Zealand's national holiday on a lush grassfloor. In 2001, One Love - Dub in the Dell was recognised by Green MP Nandor Tanczos as the most popular Waitangi Day event in New Zealand with an estimated 5000 punters luxuriating in the Botanic Garden sunshine. Shifting to the lofty heights of the Hataitai Park Velodrome for 2002 (through the Mt Victoria tunnel heading towards the airport and first on your right), the 5th Annual One Love in Wellington again promises to create that irie unity vibe through the power of roots music One Love is this year providing Food & Market Stalls, keep kids in the shade at our SunSmart Kids Sanctuary and the St George Softball Club will be running a small bar.
