Programme Changes At Concert FM

Radio New Zealand has announced changes to the programme format on the Concert FM music network. The new schedule, to be introduced on Monday 21st January, will see changes to programming on weekday afternoons.
Concert FM’s two-hour national and international music news programme, Upbeat! moves from its 4.00 pm slot, to start at midday.
One of Radio New Zealand’s most popular music programmes, Cadenza, presented by Peter Fry, will now be broadcast at 4.00 pm followed by an hour of Disc Drive between 5.00 pm and 6.00 pm.
Cadenza will however continue to be broadcast from National Radio at 1.00 pm.
Radio New Zealand conducts annual audience surveys and regularly reviews both the quality and quantity of the services it provides as a public broadcaster. Concert FM programme changes are in response to listener feedback about the weekday afternoon format.
Commenting on the changes, Radio New Zealand Group Manager for Music, Miles Rogers, said that while Upbeat! has been particularly well received by musicians and those seeking music news, the programme’s original placement in drive time had added an extra talk component at a time when most listeners preferred music to wind down at the end of the working day.
“We always take account of audience feedback and, in this case, believe that Upbeat! will provide equally stimulating radio at the top of the afternoon while giving listeners the added bonus of two hours of popular music to close the working day “
Concert FM is Radio New Zealand’s music network, broadcasting in stereo with a repertoire which is largely classical but includes specialist music programmes covering jazz, contemporary, light music and world music. It broadcasts throughout New Zealand on the FM band or on Channel 102 on SKY Digital television network.
