Golfing superstar Tiger Woods will be making a special guest appearance this Saturday night at Lower Hutt Power Tools Family Speedway. The worlds most famous golfer, and one of the most famous sporting celebrities will be taking time out of his busy New Zealand schedule to fly into the speedway to cheer on his Caddie, Steve Williams.
Williams is best known for his position as Tiger Woods right hand man, but he is also a very accomplished Speedway driver. Although he has been racing for a number of seasons, this will be the first time Woods has seen him race, and so will mark a very important occasion, and Williams will be out to impress his boss.
Williams will be competing in the South Pacific Tyres Wellington Limited Saloon Championship in his V8 Ford Mustang, which coincides with the New Zealand Golfing Open, held at Paraparaumu. But he will be up against some stiff opposition from a very classy field, including current champion, Alan Jacob, in his Corvette.
A huge crowd is expected to fill the Speedway to capacity. Woods will be presenting trophies, and signing autographs. Racing will be delayed until 7.30pm to allow Williams time to make the field. Gates will open at 5.00pm.
Also on the program are the Wellington Streetstock Championship and a full line up of all classes. Updates will be listed on the Speedway hotline on 0900 9 33 66.
