Creates box office history!!
Peter Jackson’s THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING easily snared the Biggest Ever Opening Week record, by taking over $2.9million at the box office in its first week.
This accomplishment easily surpassed the previous all time opening week record holder HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHERS STONE, which grossed $2million in it’s opening week.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING won four golden globe nominations including best picture (drama), best director, best score and best song. New Line co-chairmen and co-CEOs Robert Shaye and Michael Lynne issued a statement saying: “This is a wonderful day for us. To have such a strong debut and be honoured by the Hollywood Foreign Press with these nominations is extremely gratifying.”
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING opened to outstanding reviews when it released throughout New Zealand on Thursday 20 December :
