I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT PHAT sets out to change all that. A celebration of the true Auckland electronic underground, it
marks Beautiful Music’s fifth birthday in style, and proudly presents a selection of artists who have grown and become
accomplished recording acts and djs while Beaut Music has puttered on, plying and supporting their artistry.
Taking place in two separate zones under the one Galatos roof, I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S NOT PHAT is a resounding (come on
Auckland, not every bloody gig need be house, house and more house!) Instead, it’s a celebration of the diversity and
quality of intelligent electronic music coming out of our fair city, rigged up to sound like a dream.
Top recording artists Dooblong Tongdra, International Observer and SJD have all had fabulous albums released this year
to oodles of acclaim, and each act will be taking their art a step further for this special event with new material
worked up for the occasion.
The lineup of DJs is similarly superb, from perennial taste-maker Stinky Jim to the luscious grooves of DJ Amanda Evans,
the minimal techno scapes of Warm Jet, the electro madness of Reeky Mutton, the power fusion of Switch Doctors, the
superior slanted hip-hop of DJ Sensei, the wacky Ninja-style free-flowing DJ Museical... and more!
