TELECOM DOUBLES MOBILE PHONE CAPACITY FOR THE BOOST MOBILE V8 SUPERCARS AT PUKEKOHE
To provide service for an expected 80,000-strong crowd at Pukekohe Park Raceway this weekend, Telecom is boosting its
mobile phone coverage with temporary equipment.
Never seen in New Zealand before on this scale, 32 V8 Supercars will battle it out in the Boost Mobile V8 International
at Pukekohe Park Raceway, 45 kilometres south of Auckland city.
The Boost Mobile V8 International is the 12th round of the 2001 Shell Championship Series and will be held over three
days – Friday 9 November to Sunday 11 November.
The spectators, including 15,000 corporate guests, will watch Ford against Holden and Kiwi drivers against Australians
on the racetrack.
With such a large number of people attending, Telecom Mobile has installed two transportable mobile phone sites at the
raceway to meet the expected increase in mobile phone calls. These temporary sites will more than double the capacity
for mobile phone calls for the duration of this event.
Telecom Mobile’s Transportables and Events Manager, Mike Marsden, says Telecom is anticipating high call volumes over
the three days from race enthusiasts and wants to ensure its customers receive quality mobile phone services.
