Jewelled: adornments from across the Pacific
Personal adornment has always been an important and visually stunning aspect of Pacific cultures, and one that continues to inspire contemporary artists today. Jewelled showcases heritage items of personal adornment as well as Pacific-inspired works by contemporary New Zealand artists.

Tühoe Moumou tangata ki te pö - We give you our lives
Discover the early stories of the Tühoe iwi (tribe) and their whakapapa (genealogy), learn about Te Urewera, the sacred forest, find out about key figures and events in Tühoe’s proud history, and gain an insight into Tühoe today.

Sightlines: looking into the art collection
Sightlines presents eight dramatic views of Te Papa's art collection. Organised around the strong sightlines of the new gallery, each section is focused by major iconic pieces, including works by Colin McCahon, Robert Mapplethorpe, Yuk King Tan, and Philip Clairmont.

Off the Wall showcases visually inspiring works from Te Papa's unique collection of ceramics and sculpture.

Ko au te whenua, te whenua ko au
Made in New Zealand is a popular, entertaining, general history that traces
the stories of New Zealand’s distinct visual and material culture.

Body Odyssey
(Until 1 February 2002)
An amazing, interactive exhibition designed to teach children about the wonders of the human body. From running through a blood tunnel to climbing the giant tongue, this exhibiton provides fascinating insights into the human body.
Adults $6.50, children $4.00. Family concessions available.

Rutherford: the story of a Kiwi genius
(Until 25 November 2001)
We celebrate the life of Ernest Rutherford, New Zealand's most famous scientist. As well as discovering his story, you can explore his work through specially-made replicas of his equipment and a range of hands-on science interactives. Proudly presented by The University of Canterbury, Tait Electronics, The National Science-Technology Roadshow Trust and the Association of Science and Technology Centres of New Zealand.

Partners in Time: Art and the Treaty
This exhibition is an artistic exploration of the continuing dialogue between Mäori and Päkehä. Partners in Time presents works from Te Papa's collection, including works by Max Hailstone and a selection from the Muka portfolio.

Nieuw-Zeeland - Going Dutch
(Until August 2002)
Te Papa’s second Community Gallery exhibition focuses on the Dutch Community in New Zealand, and tells the moving stories of some of the approximately 100,000 New Zealanders of Dutch descent. Nieuw-Zeeland-Going Dutch shows a vibrant community that has greatly enriched our culture.

Quake Braker
Venture underground to see some of the 152 base isolators Te Papa sits on, and learn how these New Zealand inventions make Te Papa a safer place, should an earthquake strike.

Te Papa is open every day from 10am-6pm and Thursdays late until 9pm. Entry is free.
Tours
The Introducing Te Papa Tour gives you an overview of the museum in 45 minutes. It runs every day at 10.15am and 2.00pm. Book on the day from 9.30am on Level 1. Numbers limited! Adults $9, children $5.
Back of House Tour. Every Tuesday and Thursday at 11.30am. Tours last 45 minutes. Book on the day at the Information Desk, Level 2. $10. Numbers are limited and restricted to those aged 12 years and over.
The Information Desk on Level 2 is loaded up with useful information about events, exhibitions, and services.
Guides (available from the information desk)
The Audio Guide shows you around Te Papa with music and an informative commentary. Available in English, German, Japanese and Mäori. $5.
Fun for Kids
Discovery Centres are exciting hands-on learning areas, full of games, computers, books, and more. Check out the fabulous Inspiration Station in its brand new location on Level 4.
StoryPlace is a 45-minute programme for under-fives. It runs several times a day, every day. $2 per adult, and $2 per child over 18 months. To book, call (04) 381 7000, or ask at the Information Desk, Level 2.
