$50 Million Big Boys Toys Biggest Ever
The most successful lifestyle event in New Zealand returns to Auckland Showgrounds, 16 to 18 November, even bigger than last year’s record breaker, with an extra $10 million worth of items on show.
“It’s absolutely amazing,” says Edward Owens, Marketing Manager for organiser’s dmg world media. “Last year’s Big Boys Toys attracted a record number of exhibitors, and this years will be even bigger.”
Big Boys Toys 2000 attracted 72,000 people from all over New Zealand, with the vast majority expressing in surveys that they enjoyed the event. It is expected that the number of people at this year’s event will match last year.
“There is tremendous support from all the companies involved to ensure that visitors will enjoy three days of family entertainment and spectacle. There will be more than $50 million worth of the world’s most desirable items on display for big boys and girls of all ages to lust after, as well as many hands-on interactive exhibits providing a wealth of fun and excitement. There are also a lot of great contests, competitions and giveaways this year, including the stunning door prize of a $35,000 top specification Peugeot 307 XS Premium.
“Unlike similar shows around the world, Big Boys Toys is unique because of the spread of things for people to do and see, and the range of businesses and community organisations involved. It’s not all cars and boats, but covers everything from the latest in fishing lures through displays by the Police and military to pre-release extreme sports gear and Le Mans winning race cars.”
Although only in its fifth year, New Zealand’s Big Boys Toys has grown to be what is believed to the biggest show of its type, per head of population, in the Southern Hemisphere says Edward Owens.
“Big Boys Toys really is an event for everyone. People travel from all over New Zealand to visit. For many it’s a multi-day family outing that has massive amounts to offer males and females of all ages and with many interests.”
Some of the many highlights at Big Boys Toys 2001 are exclusive to the event. Brought to New Zealand just for the show is the world-beating Audi R8 racecar, winner of the last two Le Mans 24-hour races. The pinnacle of German automotive engineering, the stunningly reliable car produces 610 bhp and has a top speed of 340 km/h.
Another work of art on wheels being brought to New Zealand just for Big Boys Toys is the Ferrari 550 Barchetta, one of only 448 made and featuring 5.5 litres of 485 bhp V12 power plant, a precision 6 speed gear box and classic Ferrari looks and quality.
Porsche, too, has something special for visitors interested in vehicles with the $425,000 462 bhp Porsche 911 GT2, the most powerful current Porsche in series production.
The latest, best, and most expensive products in luxury, sports, classic and race cars, computer and electronics gear, luxury and speed boats, 4x4s, extreme sports equipment, hovercraft, motorcycles for road, track and dirt, trucks, helicopters and aircraft, indoor and outdoor lifestyle and recreation equipment and appliances, fishing, diving and sailing gear among other items can be seen at Big Boys Toys.
