New TV 2 Documentary Series meets younger needs
The increasing number of Kiwis with a growing appetite for documentaries will soon be able to enjoy even more varied
fare following NZ On Air’s funding of a new documentary series for TV2.
“By supporting a documentary series on TV2, a channel traditionally associated with the younger audience, NZ On Air is
providing a new audience with the opportunity to see a range of documentaries which are directly relevant to their lives
and experiences,” said NZ On Air chief executive, Jo Tyndall.
“We expect TV2’s documentaries will be quite different from current productions, with subject matter and production
style reflecting the channel’s younger audience."
“TV2’s audience can be hard to attract with factual programming. Its viewers have many discretionary viewing and
lifestyle options, so the programmes will need to be entertaining as well as informative.”
“NZ On Air’s research shows that New Zealanders want to see more documentaries by and about New Zealanders." Ms Tyndall
said.
NZ On Air has allocated $630,000 for the production of seven one-hour programmes.
