Vision is a new year's eve festival happening in a beautiful, bush-clad coastal valley near Farewell Spit, Golden Bay,
in the Nelson region of Aotearoa/ New Zealand. It starts on December 30th 2001 and runs until Jan 2nd 2002. Tickets are
available nationwide as well as in Germany and the U.K.

Vision is organised by the Visionz 2001 Trust - a registered, charitable community organisation. Last year was our first
event, and we attracted just over one thousand people. This year we expect between two and four thousand, and we have an
upper limit of five thousand. Our main aim, apart from to have an absolutely wicked party, is to raise funds to promote
sustainable communities.
All surplus generated from the party will be used to fund projects in the Aotearoa community that promote organics,
permaculture, economic independence, and co-operative interactions between human beings. We see these as ways humans can
move towards a peaceful, harmonious, and blissful future on this planet.
By law, no individuals or groups can take personal profits from this festival. We are open to input from the wider
community about how we run the event.... we aim to be truly a party 'by the people for the people.' Anyone can become a
member of our Trust, vote in elections, and stand to be elected as a trustee.
We feel that this way of doing things is far more in keeping with the original ideals of dance culture - a culture that
many young people gravitated towards because it seemed to represent a way forward. Many of those 'original heads' became
disillusioned as the dance community was progressively swamped with commercialism, trendiness, and power-politics. We
aim to re-ignite the revolutionary, positive spark that dance culture possessed in this country in the early 90s.
Alongside some of the freshest, most progressive music and performance to be found at an event of this kind in Aotearoa,
Vision will host many 'extra-curricular' activites, including workshops, discussion groups, displays, practical
demonstrations, and bushwalks. We are encouraging stalls selling organic foods and environmentally sound products
wherever possible.
Musically, there will be a selection of some of the deepest, most progressive trance music New Zealand has ever seen at
a single event, as well as a strong focus on live music, ambient, down-tempo, drum'n'bass, house, techno, dub,
twisted/experimental, and as many other acoustic and electronic musical forms as we can think up names for!
Some musical highlights:
Tristan Cooke - long-standing and respected member of London's progressive/psychedelic trance community, member of
Manmademan, released on Flying Rhino, 21.3, Transient, and most other major trance labels, travelling to New Zealand to
share his rich blend of soft-but-deep psychedelic trance - combining funky house and break-beats with some well-twisted
layers and samples.
Antix - back from a successful European tour, representing Aotearoa's flowering progressive/psychedelic scene with a set
of some tough and twisted minimalism - some of the best high-end producers in the country, deserving maximum attention
(before they are whisked away to Europe again!)
James Wilkinson - possibly one of the nation's best original solo performers, weaving his magic on the live stage, in
two sets of beautiful, hypnotic acoustic guitar, with sometimes cynical, sometimes deeply soulful vocals. So good you'll
want to kiss his feet for a long, long time.
As are Project, an 8-piece from Wellington, playing an orgasmic-organic blend of dub, breaks, jazz and funk. There are

As well as all this incredible music, festival-goers can feast their minds on sculptures, installations and performances
from some very talented artists from throughout New Zealand and the world.
Remember though - it's not just about having an incredible party, it's about working together to achieve a positive
outcome for our community, our lives and our planet. With enough support, Vision can be a real vehicle for positive
