Lotto has created five new millionaires in the last five weeks – two of them multimillionaires.
The million dollar run began with the making of the Lotto Birthday Millionaire on Saturday, 18 August when Auckland man
Pat Reddington became a millionaire live on national television.
Just one week later, a lucky Lotto player won the Lotto Division One prize of $1,301,183 after choosing their own Lotto
September began in spectacular style for two players who shared the Powerball Division One prize and each won just over
$3.5 million. The lucky players picked up their prize in the ninth week of Powerball which can jackpot for a maximum of
Lotto’s newest millionaire was made last Saturday (15 September) when a Palmerston North player won the Lotto Division
One prize of $1,304,417 with a $5 Lucky Dip ticket.
Lotteries Commission general manager marketing Vanessa Ellis says Lotto and Powerball have created 26 millionaires over
the last 18 months.
“Lotto is all about making dreams come true and the last five weeks have shown that people’s million dollar dreams do
happen,” she says.
“Over the last 14 years, Lotto, Lotto Strike and Powerball have created 190 millionaires. These millionaires come from
all walks of life and from all around the country – the one thing they all have in common is that their million dollar
Lotto dream has come true.”
