August 17, 2001. The HRL Morrison Arts Trust officially launched its new website today. www.artscalendar.co.nz is designed to ‘pool the interests’ of all participants in the arts in New Zealand, thereby becoming the definitive
guide to arts events in New Zealand. The Trust believes that www.artscalendar.co.nz will grow and evolve into a site
which will assist all arts organisations to develop faster and more easily than they would otherwise have done.
The Trust intends www.artscalendar.co.nz to be the on-line arts calendar of current and forthcoming events – concerts,
recitals, dance, opera, drama, musicals, jazz, exhibitions etc – presented in an intuitive, easy to use calendar format.
Performers and promoters will shortly be able to add their own listings directly into the www.artscalendar.co.nz
database.
"Most arts organisations, performers, teachers and administrators have limited marketing and information budgets -
www.artscalendar.co.nz will enable them to interface easily and reliably with a far wider audience than historically."
Trust chairman Lloyd Morrison said today.
"We accept that, at this point, there are gaps in both content and structure of the site. However, we believe it
represents a good starting point from which to build and the Trust is committed to resourcing the site to grow to its
ultimate potential."
www.artscalendar.co.nz is owned and operated by the HRL Morrison Arts Trust, which is a non-profit charitable trust
established to support the development of the arts in New Zealand. The Trust operates alongside the HRL Morrison Music
Trust (www.trustcds.com), which is a charitable trust established to support New Zealand music and musicians.
