“In Touch And On A Roll”
Auckland, New Zealand, July 31, 2001 – Buoyed by last week’s performance against the in-form Canterbury Bulldogs, the Vodafone Warriors take on the Penrith Panthers this Sunday afternoon at Penrith Football Stadium.
Coach Daniel Anderson said the Warriors were well in the hunt for a top eight spot, but all players needed to keep their attention focussed firmly on the job in hand when the team meets the troubled cellar-dwellers.
“At this stage of the competition, every game matters, every point counts. And, as the Roosters found out two rounds ago, the Panthers can hurt you if you let your guard down.
“If we can duplicate last week’s defensive effort, build on the pride and passion we’ve shown over the past two weeks, and capitalise on the lessons we’ve learned this season we can come back home to Ericsson with a win.
Anderson has named the following team to take on the Panthers, with both Ivan Cleary and Awen Guttenbeil in the starting lineup
1. Ivan Cleary
2. Henry Faafili
3. Wairangi Koopu
4. Clinton Toopi
5. Francis Meli
6. Motu Tony
7. Stacey Jones (c)
