TV One And TV2 To Go Stereo In Southland

Published: Mon 23 Jul 2001 10:58 AM
From Thursday 26 July, viewers in Southland will be able to watch and listen to TV ONE and TV2 programmes in full NICAM Stereo.
This enhancement has been made possible by the implementation of digital networking to the Hedgehope transmission site where modern technologies have been applied to the TVNZ transmitters.
Viewers who wish to receive the new NICAM Stereo service will need to have either a NICAM-capable television or a NICAM-capable VCR. Operation of existing mono television sets and VCRs will not be affected by the NICAM signal.
"The introduction of NICAM Stereo to the Southland region will enable viewers with the necessary receivers to enjoy their favourite TVNZ programmes in crystal clear sound", said TVNZ General Manager, Public Affairs, Glen Sowry.
