Bob Marley and reggae fans have a real treat in store for them in early August when an exhibition showcasing the work of
Bob Marley is held at council's Mangere Community Outreach Services Gallery.
The exhibition, to be opened on Saturday 4th August by the Mayor of Manukau, Sir Barry Curtis, will be preceded by a
free outdoor concert at the Mangere Town Centre. Previously advertised as the 5th August, but now the date has been
changed to Saturday 4th August.
The exhibition entitled ‘Coming in from the Cold’ and featuring over 100 images and pieces of memorabilia, originated
from Melbourne and is now the property of the Gisborne Museum and Arts Centre.
Visitors will be able to view photographic images and artwork celebrating with theatrical flair the life, music and
charismatic legend that was Bob Marley. In keeping with the musical theme the exhibition will be an audio visual one
with videos and music accompanying the 93 framed mounted art works.
A video theatre equipped with headphones will create a sense of being involved in a concert situation and visitors will
be able to literally soak up the distinct reggae sound from the audio-system as they view the unique exhibition.
This is a great opportunity for music fans to get nostalgic whilst viewing a unique exhibition of this Jamaican reggae
superstar, Bob Marley - a man for all seasons.
