Montana Poetry Day

Published: Thu 5 Jul 2001 11:05 AM
Friday 20th July
The motivation behind all of this is to prove that N.Z Poetry is relevant, contemporary, engaging, humorous and entertaining and to break down some of the stereotypes and misconceptions about Poetry
I will finish with a saying I like "We all create Poetry just the Poets choose to express it "
At the Temple
@ the Temple from 8pm Special Guests Graham Brazier and comedian Jan Maree along with Bob Orr, Olwyn Stewart, David Suter, Paddy Hoban, Olivia Macassey, Ant Horn, Will Christie and Noodle String will perform, read and celebrate Poetry
Also there is a Poetry Slam (3 min or less) with $ 100 first prize The Slam is judged on audience response
Slam Poetry while new to N.Z, is popular in many parts of the world
To finish we have the entertainment of rockabilly band All Torn Up (www.temple.co.nz/All_Torn_Up.htm)
The night at the Temple is free as well as the slam to enter
