The glitter and glamour of Monte Carlo is coming to Christchurch and it¹ll be a case of getting the glad rags out of the
wardrobe and brushing up on the dance steps.
Tickets for the "Kids Should have a Ball" go on sale today.
The Rotary Club of Christchurch¹s children¹s charity ball on Saturday 13 October is once again aiming to raise $50 000
for the Rainbow Children¹s Trust.
"This year¹s ball will be more spectacular, lavish and exciting than ever. It¹s a must attend on the social calendar,"
says Ball Committee Chairman, Rotarian Ian Dunn.
"The theme for this year¹s ball was chosen for its glamour factor. Monte Carlo conjures images of casinos, glamour,
motor racing, yachts and Princess Grace. It will be a night to remember."
"The proceeds will go to the Rainbow Children¹s Trust who will be donating the money to the Children¹s Outreach Nursing
Service (Canterbury District Health Board), which provides a mobile nursing service for children with chronic illnesses
including cancer, congenital heart, chronic renal, neurological and respiratory conditions."
"These children are referred to the service by the Paediatric Medical Service and require ongoing education, care and
support to manage their condition."
"The money raised by the "Kids Should Have a Ball" will be used to purchase two Ford 5-door Hatchbacks cars for the
Outreach Nursing Service. The cars will be equipped with nursing aids including handsfree cellphones, baby scales,
digital stand on scales and blood pressure sphygmomanometers," says Mr Dunn. "Social responsibility is part of the
philosophy of the Rotary Club of Christchurch and whilst the adults get to have fun, it¹s the children who are the real
winners."
This will be the fifth charity ball held by the Rotary Club of Christchurch.
