The Prime Minister has agreed to be interviewed tomorrow on Radio Waatea, Auckland’s Maori talkback show, by Human
Rights Commissioner Ella Henry.
“I hope to ask the PM about Maori policy, particularly around economic development. However, with so many changes on the
agenda for amendments to the Human Rights and Bill of Rights Acts, I also hope to touch on these issues,” said Henry.
“The Prime Minister currently does regular interviews with BFM student radio and Paul Holmes. I think that Maori in
Auckland will be pleased to know the Prime Minister is interested in speaking to us and being accessible to us too”.
Before becoming a Commissioner Henry hosted a radio show for many months.
Previously the focus of the Thursday 10am to 12pm show had been Mana Wahine - women’s issues. However, since taking up
her Commissioner role, Henry has renamed the show Mana Tangata and changed the focus to human rights issues.
